Edmonton Urban Farm is a shared community space where visitors can explore local food, urban agriculture, and the natural environment. To make the farm more welcoming and easier to understand, it needed a clear and cohesive signage system that could guide, inform, and educate visitors throughout the site. Onetwosix designed and fabricated custom wayfinding signage to help people move confidently between the farm’s different gardens, gathering areas, and points of interest. Alongside the directional signs, we created identification signs for the different plants and herbs growing on the property, including varieties such as sage. These signs help visitors recognize what is being grown while adding an educational layer to their experience. Each element was designed to be easy to read, durable enough for an outdoor environment, and visually connected to the character of the farm. The materials, scale, graphics, and placement were carefully considered so the signage would stand out when needed while still feeling at home among the gardens. The result is a cohesive signage system that improves navigation, supports learning, and encourages visitors to slow down and engage more closely with the plants, spaces, and stories that make Edmonton Urban Farm unique.
