Turning a Summer Treat Into Street Furniture
Built around the theme “Reimagining K-Days: Celebrating Summer in Our City,” the concept drew inspiration from the food, colour, energy, and nostalgia of summer. The result was Pop-Upsicles, a collection of bold street furniture designed to feel fun, familiar, and right at home at K-Days. Sustainability played a major role in the design. Using locally manufactured recycled HDPE from ReWaste, the benches were created to withstand heavy public use and outdoor conditions while minimizing production impact. The material’s durability, low maintenance, and vibrant colour options helped shape both the final form and personality of the project. The finished benches combine playful design with practical performance, creating memorable public seating built for summers to come.
