A Place to Pause, Gather, and Connect

The Pebble Deck was created as a durable and welcoming feature for The Pointe, reflecting its mission to preserve and grow the area’s agricultural heritage. Its low, organic form wraps around the existing tree, allowing the landscape to remain the focal point while creating a natural place for visitors to sit, gather, and spend time together. Onetwosix fabricated the structure using a strong metal base and a custom timber surface designed to withstand long-term outdoor use. Each piece of wood was carefully charred by hand using a propane torch and then treated with oil, creating a rich, textured finish that highlights the natural character of the material. Beyond its distinctive appearance, the charring process helps improve the wood’s durability, resistance to fire, and overall longevity. The result is a surface that feels warm and tactile while standing up to changing weather and repeated public use. Thoughtfully integrated into its surroundings, the Pebble Deck combines landscape, craftsmanship, and practical construction. It is a quiet but memorable addition to The Pointe, offering a lasting place for people to pause beneath the tree and connect with the land and one another.
